Computers have gone a long way since its release in the early 1970s. These machines don't weigh around a ton or two anymore, require electrical engineering skills to operate those damn machines, or gobble up electricity like a truckload of airconditioners. Nor are they bulkier than a grand piano! With the advent of high-tech communication technologies, they are now used as a multimedia device to suit either one's needs for fast communications and great entertainment. Computers also serve as suitable solutions for office business affairs. Plus, I have come to know that desktop computers can be used not only as home digital recording studio equipment, but rather as telephone answering machines as well! So, I kinda tweaked my computer up a bit, got the stuff I needed, learnt the necessary skills, and I just went my own way. I set up my computer to act as my personal telephone answering attendant! It only requires a special software from NCH Swift Sound, called IVM Telephone Answering Attendant. Similar programs could also be obtained from numerous software developers. Plus, of course you'd be needing a voice modem as well, not to mention a functioning phone line!It is fully configurable and easy to understand. Your desktop computer could even be used as a phone dialer. Of course you'd be needing a headset, unless you plan to make your conversations known to humankind by using your desktop speakers and a powerful microphone. So, I sometimes use it not only as an answering machine, but I use it to record phone conversations rather inconspiciously as well!
